Is KIplatz free? What everyone asks first
Yes, KIplatz is free. Here are the questions our first members asked, answered briefly and honestly.
Money and credits
Free, no subscription, no crypto.
- Does KIplatz cost anything?
- No. The program, the answers and the community are free. There is no paid tier and no credits to buy.
- Is there a cryptocurrency or a token?
- No, and it stays that way. Credits are a number in your account that gives priority for answers.
- Do I earn money with it?
- No. Credits cannot be bought, sold or paid out.
Your PC
Power, requirements, files, leaving.
- What does it cost me in electricity?
- Your PC only works when you have switched it on and it has nothing else to do, within the limits you set. On battery the work pauses by itself. What the graphics card uses is shown in the statistics as soon as graphics cards can measure it.
- Which PC do I need?
- A normal Windows PC. With a graphics card of 6 GB or more graphics memory it answers itself and downloads the model once; every PC works on the community's knowledge.
- Does it run on Mac or Linux?
- The program is available for Windows 11. You can ask from any device, including Mac, Linux and phone, via the web page; further systems follow Windows.
- Can I reach files on my PC from my phone?
- Yes, with “Frag dein Zuhause” (ask your home). You tick “In meinen Dateien suchen” (search my files) and ask, for example, “Where is my job application?”. Your PC at home looks for it, and you fetch it to your phone encrypted and without a cloud. The PC has to be switched on for this. That way you can get your files from anywhere.
- What happens when I leave?
- “Aus der Community austreten” (leave the community) in the program deletes at once everything on the server that belongs to your device: name, credits, counters. “Programm entfernen” (remove program) under Settings takes the program off the PC. Your conversations stay with you.

How good, how private, how you can help.
- Can I build my own AI?
- Yes. Under “Meine KI” (my AI) you tap what you need it for, how it should answer and what it must never do. If you are learning Python, you get code in its own block and no invented functions; if you want short answers, you get short ones. This applies in every conversation, even when a PC of the community answers. More under My AI.
- The answer was wrong. How do I tell KIplatz?
- Tap the thumbs down and write how it should be. Your device sticks to that from now on, and once a second device has checked the correction, it applies for everyone.
- Does anyone see my questions?
- The PC that answers your question sees the text of the question but not who asked: no name, no address. It only sees a place if it is in the question, for example with a weather question. General knowledge questions stay encrypted and without names, questions about you never.
- How good are the answers?
- As good as their sources. Under every answer are the excerpts it comes from, and what is in no source, KIplatz tells you honestly. How that works is shown on the page AI with sources.
