AI with sources: how KIplatz answers

With KIplatz, under every text are the passages it came from. Under “Details zur Antwort” (details of the answer) you see how many sentences come from the sources, how many KIplatz concludes from them and how many come from its own knowledge. What KIplatz does not know, it says instead of making something up.

Ask yourself and look at the sources

No account, no sign-in. The program answers in German for now. Your question is not stored.

From question to answer in four steps

  1. Search. Your question first goes to the community's shared knowledge: sections from sources with a clear licence and from websites for which there is a documented reason, plus the members' local knowledge. For weather or headlines the PC looks it up, and if the shared knowledge has nothing, it searches the web and tells you so. What it reads there is not kept for everyone.
  2. Write. The model gets the best excerpts with the question, and the text is meant to come from them. If a question that has already been checked matches yours, its answer comes first.
  3. Compare. The program lays every sentence next to the excerpts and counts how well it is backed.
  4. Show. Under the text are the sources. Under “Details zur Antwort” (details of the answer) you see how many sentences are backed, which device answered and how long it took. The text itself carries no marks, so it reads easily.

From a source, concluded or from its own knowledge

From a source

The sentence is in the excerpts like this. That is the rule.

The server is in Vienna.

Concluded

The sentence follows from backed passages but is not there word for word. If something important depends on it, a second look is worth it.

That keeps the way to the data short.

From its own knowledge

There was no excerpt for this sentence. For an explanation like “What does dividing mean?” that is normal; numbers and years are better checked.

This has applied since 2019.

An honest gap beats an invented answer.

Checked by a second device

For many sections a community device has already written a summary with questions and answers, and a second device has confirmed it.

The members' PCs do this work while they have nothing else to do.

Open models on the members' PCs

KIplatz writes with open models under a free licence, each in the size that fits the graphics card. It searches with a small model that pays attention to the meaning of the words.

Both run on members' PCs, not at a provider.
